Energy Efficiency Program Manager - ACEE job posting

The Alberta Council for Environmental Education (ACEE) seeks to employ an Energy Efficiency Program Manager to help us deliver on the work described below.

Status: Full-time salaried position with benefits

Closing date: Thursday, April 12, 2018

Starting date: Monday, May 14th, 2018 (negotiated with the successful candidate)

Location: Calgary or Edmonton preferred (other locations in Alberta may be considered)

ACEE is an incorporated Alberta society with federal charitable status, with the mission of working collaboratively to advance environmental and energy education. The Energy Efficiency Program Manager will support our work to advance energy education (supporting student learning around energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy).

The Energy Efficiency Program Manager will take a lead role to help launch and deliver our Energy Efficiency and Climate Action program (in partnership with GreenLearning Canada). This program leverages new technology that ‘makes energy visible,’ using dashboards that allow students to see the details of energy consumption in their schools or community buildings.  Students then work with professional energy managers to evaluate the building’s energy budget, recommend retrofits, see greenhouse gases reduced through their actions – and feel a renewed sense of citizenship and hope.

The successful candidate will be:

  • someone who can ‘walk in both worlds’ as they support both the technical and educational dimensions of energy efficiency

  • familiar with notions of energy efficiency, able to speak about energy management with administrators and facility managers to support the technical side of the program, helping decision-makers see the value in installing and using these technologies

  • adept at collaborating with professional associations that deal with facilities, bringing an energy literacy stream to several key conferences and meetings in Alberta

  • able to work directly with teachers, helping them apply lesson plans and pedagogical approaches that address curriculum

  • able to support teacher professional learning and planning through workshops and webinars

  • able to demonstrate experience in managing complex workloads and projects

  • a highly motivated self-starter with very strong leadership, administration and communication skills

  • familiar and have experience with environmental and energy education

  • experience working in the non-governmental sector (preferred) and working as part of a team

  • passionate about the environment

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Minimum of several years experience as a program coordinator or manager

To apply:

  • Send your covering letter, resume and references in a single PDF file by email to Kathy Worobec, Education Director - kathy[at]
  • Include "Energy Efficiency Program Manager" in the subject line of the email
  • Receipt of your email will be acknowledged

  • Will be held April 25 & 26 (either virtually or in person in Calgary)
