Environmental Education Program Coordinator (part-time)

The Alberta Council for Environmental Education is seeking a young, part-time professional as a Program Coordinator. This position will support a number of our initiatives that advance environmental energy and climate change education in Alberta. This work will include working on our efforts to support teachers and environmental educators in implementing best practices for environmental education. This may include supporting the workshops or webinars we offer to teachers and environmental education organizations. This work will also include engaging and supporting education leaders to advance environmental education through curriculum or policies to enhance student learning that prepares students for their future. You will also support some of our work in targeting our audiences using our client management system and providing general support as needed. This position will report directly to one of our Senior Education Advisors.

Screening criteria

  • Working toward or completed a post-secondary degree with preferences for degrees in Education (Sciences), Environmental Sciences, Public Policy with an interest or experience in environmental education
  • Ability to support and organize program elements supporting teacher and environmental educators in implementing best practices for environmental education
  • Understanding of system change and Alberta’s education system to support education leaders in advancing environmental education in school boards and schools
  • Strong interpersonal, speaking and writing skills
  • Strong communication skills, particularly via digital platforms and websites
  • Highly organized and adept at time management and task prioritization
  • Proficiency in Google Drive and Microsoft Office 
  • Comfortable learning new technology (Client Relationship Management database, website, social media)
  • Aged 30 years or under and must meet Canada Summer Jobs criteria
  • Location: Edmonton

  • Placement length: 23 weeks
  • Hours per week: 15 hours per week
  • Wage: $20.00 per hour
