Board Members - Alberta Council for Environmental Education

We are seeking two Directors to join our Board for a three-year term. The ACEE Board of Directors is responsible for the governance and oversight of the organization and provides strategic direction to the staff.

ACEE is a not for profit, registered charity that works collaboratively to advance environmental education in Alberta. We believe that educating today’s youth to be tomorrow’s environmental stewards is our best strategy to create a sustainable future. By collaborating with teachers, education providers, parents, and students, ACEE helps youth become aware of the environment, gain a better understanding of it, consider environmental issues and act to create a sustainable future.

The duties of the Board include attending virtual bi-monthly meetings, subcommittee meetings, setting the strategic direction of the organization, and ensuring that the fiduciary responsibilities of the organization are fulfilled.

Candidates with previous Board experience, either for profit or not for profit are preferred. Governance, accounting, marketing/communications, fund development,  information technology, educational programming, legal and government relations would all be preferred assets.

All candidates will be expected to adhere to our conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.

If you’re interested in playing a key role in advancing environmental education in Alberta, we invite you to email us any inquiry you might have, and/or send an  expression of your interest to Executive Director Jen Herrick at by no later than noon on September 7, 2021. You’ll hear from our Governance Committee shortly thereafter, with next steps.
