Hi , One of the best ways to learn about nature is to get outside, be curious, and ask questions about the natural world around you.Today's activity is fun, hands-on and designed to bring out your inner nature detective! Take your kids out into your backyard, or go for a walk around your neighbourhood and explore the living world around you! Unlock their curiosity and ask them questions. What kinds of plants and animals live in our area? What kinds of clues tell us if wildlife was here? Are these plant and animal species native to Alberta? Nature leaves clues all around (leaves on trees, animal tracks in snow, etc.) that can help you answer these questions! Bring a notebook or use your smart phone and start a field guide to record your family's findings. Below are some useful resources to get you started! Over the next few months, we will be sending weekly mailers with environmental education activities for parents and families to support home-based learning. We will also be posting them to our new parent resource page. Please share this with any parents that you think may find this useful.
