All you need for this activity is your favourite tree, some clay or mud (or soil and water to make your own), and natural objects to build a face. 

Take handfuls of mud to press down on the tree and form the shape of a face. Then, using natural objects, they can add eyes, nose, mouths, hair and whatever features they like!

For this activity, you will need 1/4 to 3/4 inch diameter sticks, yarn, scissors and natural materials (flowers, leaves, pinecones...). 

You will need to help your child build the base of the loom by tying the sticks together tightly with yarn. Ask your child to weave yarn around the loom and help them tie that off as well. 

Go on a nature walk in your backyard, neighborhood, or the park. Collect interesting grasses, flowers, leaves, seed pods, nuts, and pieces of bark that you find on the ground and use that to decorate the loom!

This activity is perfect for spring! Ask your child to find a plant, tree, or flower in the yard or at a nearby park and visit it everyday, sketching or colouring it in their nature journal or sketchbook to document the changes. This works especially well with blooming flowers and budding leaves.

Mandalas are both beautiful works of art and  a great introduction to geometric shapes. 

You will need a collection of natural materials, such as pebbles, twigs, pinecones, flower petals or any  other material you like. 

Start your circle in an area which will allow your art work to grow. Choose a large central piece for your art work and build a ring around it. Keep adding rings to the  mandala using a different material for each ring for a beautiful visual effect.
