The Alberta Council for Environmental Education is seeking two young professionals for Program Coordinator positions. 

Program Coordinator 1 - This position will support a few of our program areas such as: our new partnership with EcoSchools Canada in bringing the program to Calgary schools, Connecting Classrooms with Professionals, and our work in energy education.

Program Coordinator 2 -This position will support a number of our initiatives that advance environmental energy and climate change education in Alberta including: our work in advancing policies to support the above, helping schools green their infrastructure while advancing student learning, and mentoring our Alberta Youth Leaders for Environment and Energy Education (AYLEEE) student group.

Deadline to apply is October 12. Must be aged 30 or under and a graduate of post-secondary.

How worried are Alberta students about climate change? What do they know about the connections between energy, climate, and the environment? Join us to learn the answers, as we share results from our 2020 polling of 500 Alberta youth, and the focus groups we conducted this year. You’ll have a chance to explore how you can use this information in your own work, advise us on the campaign we're planning to advance environmental, energy, and climate education - and pitch in and help, if you're willing! You’ll also have time to ‘hang out’ with colleagues, and discuss program adaptations during times of COVID.

Are you a teacher of an environmentally focused class or club? Or do you know any youth grades 7-12 who are passionate about learning about the environment and energy? The AYLEEE program is for youth and teachers across Alberta that are passionate about taking the next steps toward environmental, energy, and climate leadership in their schools and communities. For the past year, ACEE has been working with EcoSchools Canada to bring this exciting environmental certification program to Alberta. The newly upgraded EcoSchools on-line platform nurtures environmental learning and climate action and is available in both official languages. For our Year 1 Alberta pilot, ACEE is providing on-the-ground support to Calgary-area schools. Other schools in Alberta are welcome to register and begin exploring the online features and resources. Climate Change is now considered to be threatening enough to be listed by child health professionals in the 'Top Ten Threats to Childhood in Canada.' The report, conducted by Children First Canada, University of Calgary, and the Alberta Children's Hospital, states: 

"This year, climate change has been added to the list of threats analyzed in this report. Throughout consultations, children and youth voiced concerns that climate change threatens their current health, as well as their future. It is also one of their top priorities for action."

Green Calgary is offering virtual school programs, with sanitised materials dropped off to your school (Calgary area). Full subsidies are available for waste-themed programs held before the end of the year. 

Relay Education is offering virtual only workshops, in-class workshops with a virtual presenter, and in-person classroom workshops for Grades 4-12 in renewable energy topics and green collar careers (for 9-12).
