Keepers of the Athabasca have created ready-to-use powerpoints and resources for Junior High and High School classrooms. These powerpoints and resources have previously been offered as workshops for teachers. Keepers of the Athabasca have generously donated these materials so that teachers can utilize them in the classroom.

Nature Alive Adventures provides customizable outdoor experiences right to your school parking lot or to an outdoor space near you. They provide instruction in outdoor skills (e.g. animal awareness and tracking, natural fiber cordage, fire lighting, shelter building, etc), quinzhee building, and more! Nature Alive Adventures also provides day and overnight trips with snowshoes and freight toboggans. They are certified instructors with Paddle Canada to provide canoe instruction, guided trips, and certification.

Their YouTube channel provides in-class resources and instruction in a variety of outdoor pursuits and topics, as well as providing Nature Minutes, short videos with follow up activities that are meant to challenge kids to get outside.

If you are an Edmonton school, participate in indoor food growing with a Little Green Thumbs garden! Sustainable Food Edmonton provides a free garden kit, supplies and ongoing support to teachers wanting to capitalize on cross-curricular and hands-on learning from fall to spring. Students participate from seed to harvest, growing and tasting veggies and herbs. The indoor garden is a great way to teach science, math, healthy eating, literacy, social, art and much more!
 

Learn about green careers from inspiring people whose jobs help the planet. In each episode, dedicated people sit down in the green chair to tell us about their journey, passions and career. Hear from people from across a wide range of professions, who all work in what we consider to be a 'green collar career'.

Green Skills Academy offers 4-12 week in-person career training courses for people age 18+ in a variety of sustainable energy fields. Courses are free and provide real certifications. Costs will be reimbursed for travel, accommodations, and child care if needed. 

Nature Companion is a free app/website introducing many of the plants and animals found in Canada’s four western provinces. In just one app, you’ll find basic information about over 300 common plants, trees, birds, animals, insects, reptiles, and amphibians. It's available on or off line. Nature Companion provides short, easy-to-understand descriptions and colourful photographs along with a Did you know? section with interesting, unexpected details about each species. It’s free with no ads or sign up and can be installed on your phone or tablet directly from the Nature Companion website.

Classroom Resources includes online dissection alternatives, Animal Cams, and the Five Needs of animals video series. 

AnimalTales is a free book lending program with online resources and pre and post activities for Kindergarten to Grade 6. 

The following discussion questions and activities foster curiosity and link to Language Arts and Science curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 7+. See past themes here, including kindness, respect, compassion, and responsibility. 

There are also Class Action Project ideas and guides to help animals, people, and the environment. Classes who complete projects can also end up on the Kindness Map. 

See CTS course offerings related to Equine, Animal Basics, and Animal Husbandry and Welfare. Teachers can complete the course as a class or a student can individually work through the course. 

The Seven Sacred/Grandfather Teachings include a teachers' guide and student activity booklet for Grades 1-2 and 3-6. 

Ask Nature provides a variety of biomimicry and engineering unit plans, lesson plans, and design challenges. The website also features professional development online courses to help teachers embark on design challenges with their students. 

Rural Routes to Climate Solutions is an organization dedicated to reducing agriculture's carbon footprint. Check out the podcasts to learn about innovations in agriculture to improve the health of the environment. 

Ag for Life has a full teacher resource page with videos, activities, lesson plans, and online educational tools. There are materials specific to elementary, junior high, and high school audiences. Topics include food, food waste, careers, sustainable development goals, STEAM, and tech & innovation in agriculture. 

SnapAG provides resources to teach students about topics in agriculture ranging from farming basics, to pesticides, and GMOs.
