The Alberta Education competencies: Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Managing Information, Creativity and Innovation, Communication, Collaboration, Cultural and Global Citizenship, and Personal Growth and Well-being all provide excellent opportunities to engage with environmental stewardship. These Environmental Stewardship Competency Cards provide a visual for showing students the competencies involved with engaging in environmental issues and action.

  • AquaVan - We offer two program styles to accommodate a maximum of 260 students or a maximum of 500 students. All programs include four staff as well as live marine invertebrates.
  • AquaZone - Full day program (four sessions) or half day program (two sessions) can accommodate up to 30 students per session and includes two staff, a selection of artifacts and live marine invertebrates.
  • AquaKits - Standalone kits ready for use in your classroom complete with lesson plans, rented per day of use plus transportation costs to and from your location.

The Alberta Council for Environmental Education YouTube channel is a resource for teachers wanting to get inspired and inspire their students to take action. The channel features a variety of short video clip success stories of student-led action projects. 

Let's Talk Science classroom workshops cover environmental and energy topics, such as needs of animals, electricity, renewable energy and weather. 

Mountain World Heritage Interpretive Theatre provides theatre shows, street theatre, and community outreach about wildlife in our mountain protected parks. Audio recordings and lyrics for songs about Rocky Mountain wildlife are available on the website.

SHAPE provides online guides to help develop walk-to-school programs for your community school. 

Evergreen Theatre programs include a touring stage show as well as an Artist in Residency program.​

  • Every year Evergreen Theatre puts on a different 50-minute touring show, with curriculum-based scripts, exciting props and student participation. A teacher's guide is available for pre/post discussions in the classroom.
  • The Artist in Residency program connects theatre professionals to your school to create a play with your students, "growing" your own show. Get kids teaching their peers about science and the environment through theatre. Using inquiry-based learning, students are challenged to discover meaning and relevance in curriculum linked topics pertinent to natural, scientific and environmental issues.

 

The Jungle Farm near Red Deer provides field trip programs for elementary students.

Evergreen provides lesson plans for K-12 students on climate, conservation, and outdoor activities, and how-to guides for gardening and composting.
