Give Our Students a Better Future: Events
March 18, 2021 - Education Leaders Forum 3
“Give students a better future” Virtual Forum 3 - March 18th - 10:00am to 12:00pm. Join us to explore governance ideas on how school boards can ‘take the next step’ in enhancing environmental, energy and climate change education. We’ll explore the Sustainability and Education Policy Network’s “Responding to Climate Change: A Primer for K-12 Education” with Marcia McKenzie. You’ll hear from students on the importance of this for their education. We’ll share some tangible policies and provide time for you to explore these ideas with your colleagues.
March 23, 2021 - Environmental and Classroom Educators
Join us virtually on March 23rd - 3:30 to 5:00pm - to touch on how we need to ‘give our students a better future’, review and discuss how we provide better climate change education followed by time for environmental educators and teachers to meet and discuss challenges or questions regarding environmental education topics. We’ll briefly share evidence on the ‘need’ of our students followed by reviewing and exploring frameworks such as the Roadmap for Excellent Climate Change Education on what is needed to help students deal with their anxiety about their future. We’ll then have time for group discussions on various environmental education topics with teachers and those offering environmental education programs. You’ll leave with some tangible ideas for your programs or classroom teaching.
