Teacher's Pet provides in-school field trips covering environmental topics, including: renewable energy, building birdhouses, wetlands, plants, waste, natural resources, and animal life cycles & conservation. 

These two guides provide instructions on maintaining a worm composting system in your classroom, along with classroom activities. 

Both books are available at the Little Green Library in Calgary. 

 

 

The City of Edmonton provides Waste Management Centre Tours (Gr. 4-12) and classroom programs on waste, recycling, and composting (Gr. 4-6), as well as Junior High and High school presentations upon request. 

This Guide to Action Projects includes curriculum links for Gr. 3-12, with connections to science, social studies, and biology 20/30.

Land Talk is an interactive map showcasing stories from around the world about how the land has changed. On its own, this is an excellent historic resource to study how areas have changed. Students and teachers can also submit conversations from their city to be added on the map.

 

The website also features lesson plans that explore topics in ecology, history, changes in biomes, and the power of words. 

The North American Association for Environmental Education has a resource bank on their website, featuring interesting articles, websites, and environmental literature. Check it out! 

Teachers in Medicine Hat and area can request a scientist or engineer to visit their classrooms. Praxis Society will try match teachers up with the professional that would best fit their class's needs.
