The iBiome series of educational STEM games invites kids from grades 3 to 8 to have fun while learning about environmental science. They’ll create their own habitats, try virtual experiments, and retain science-based curriculum through experiential learning. Whether they’re taking climate action with iBiome-Changing Ice, diving into marine biology with iBiome-Oceans, or uncovering wetland biodiversity with iBiome-Wetland, the iBiome series will make their screen time count towards an eco-mindset that they’ll continue to nurture for life.

AdventureSmart is a great resource to help teach students about outdoor trip preparation. The website includes guides, checklists, and a fun online game! You can also request an outdoor educator to speak to your group virtually in either French or English!

Download PictureThis, simply take or upload a photo of any plant and get instantaneous plant ID results! The website also has a massive plant encyclopedia and catalogue. 

Water Rangers provides testing kits that can be purchased online. Users can upload their data to the Water Rangers Data Platform, and view data collected by others all over Canada!

Cranky Uncle uses cartoons, humour, games, and activities to teach students about critical thinking and how to recognize misinformation. See also the videos explaining the resource and the damaging impact of climate misinformation.

Calgary Captured is a multi-year wildlife monitoring program run in partnership with the City of Calgary, Miistakis Institute, Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society, and Weaselhead/Glenmore Park Preservation Society. The program aims to increase knowledge on our urban wildlife to inform development and management decisions, as well as to engage the community to spread awareness of wildlife. Calgary Captured enables you to join their team and help classify trail camera photos by identifying the animals you see. By participating not only will you help with the massive and very important task of identifying wildlife, you get a first hand look into who calls Calgary home.
