Volunteer Outreach and Partnership Coordinator at Bow Habitat Station

Reporting to the Director of Bow Habitat Station (BHS) and Outreach Services, Bow Habitat Station’s Volunteer, Outreach and Partnership Coordinator works to provide outreach activities for diverse target audiences, cultivate and maintain partnerships and lead an engaged team of volunteers.

Highlights of responsibilities include:

•    Coordination and development of an annual outreach strategy that references available resources such as budget, wage staff, volunteer capacity, on-site operational hours and meets the targets identified in BHS’s strategic plans.

•    Plan and coordinate the delivery of and participation in on-site and off-site events

•    Tailor programming to meet the needs and age of the target group, depending on youth or adult based programming, using appropriate level of language and activities

•    Develop an annual volunteer recruitment plan that includes attending events to recruit volunteers

•    Coordinate events, activities, equipment, and fish releases for the provincial Fish In School (FinS) program

•    Participate as a member of internal education committees and environmental education task teams

•    Train, support, supervise and mentor front-line client service and environmental education program delivery at the Bow Habitat Station

This position functions with a high degree of independence and professionalism in an environment characterized by a high volume of work carried out under time specific deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. A positive attitude, strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment will ensure success in this position.
