The Challenge

Our schools struggle when it comes to preparing students to tackle environmental challenges.  Teachers tell us they want to provide more environmental and energy education but lack the time, confidence and resources.

We can help. Since 2005 the Alberta Council for Environmental Education has been supporting curriculum and teacher professional development so that we can equip students with the knowledge and skills to be the problem solvers of tomorrow.

Our Solution

As more and more students are finding a passion for sustainability, let’s take action together and move environmental education from the margins to the mainstream of education in Alberta.

We have created the Curriculum for a Sustainable Future and are engaging with Alberta Education

We offer workshops, webinars, and opportunities to profile programs

We bring educational leaders together to take the next step toward sustainability

We offer programs, workshops, resources, and more!

We provide youth with an opportunity to have their voices heard

A collection of our partners' teaching resources, grants, and P.D. opportunities

In 2020...

500 students told us about their vision for energy and climate education

620 teachers received training to advance environmental. education in their classroom

Over 125 partners shared their educational resources with teachers on our hub

“Schools should prepare us for the future, not the past. The future of the world will be built on sustainability. If we learn what sustainable technologies are available when we are in school, we will be able to help shape the future of global sustainability when we graduate.”

- Quinn, student at Jasper Place High School in Edmonton
